Get Smart
I’m not following the “news” as much anymore. Don’t need to. Nothing anyone can do now really except wait for the inevitable. I mistakenly stumbled across Maureen Dowd’s criticism of Democrat’s “identity politics.” Not to identify her or anything but she’s well past her expiration date and should retire. Tomorrow.
We must be clear: Democrats didn’t “lose” the election. Republicans won it. (And not nearly by as much as they claim.) And that’s only because Kamala got six million fewer votes than Joe Biden did. Did they vote for Trump? Did they stay home?? Who the fuck cares about those imbeciles??? What is done is done. We said he’d be a disaster if he got elected. Did they think we were fooling?
The only good criticism came from Bernie Sanders (of course), Bernie said the Democrats didn’t campaign hard enough for the working class. This is true. And who Is the working class anyway? Practically everyone who can also be described with identity politics! When you campaign for working class voters, you’re campaigning for practically everyone.
The Democrats made their big mistake as far back as Bill Clinton and even Jimmy Carter. They started talking about the “middle class” not the working class. They were frightened of the term “working class.” Today’s Republicans aren’t, and so the Democrats got caught flat-footed. But it was the working class that won all the elections for them since FDR.
That’s really all we need to know. Any additional soul-searching is just drippy Democrats whining on and on. Did the Republicans soul-search after they were slaughtered in 2020? Nope! They only whined (and whined) about being cheated. And getting revenge.
So what can the Democrats in Congress do now? Not much! And good for that. The spineless Republicans will go along with whatever Trump wants. So they will own it all. Donald Trump should be able to do EVERYthing he promised: Immigrant round-ups, tariffs left and right, oil fields everywhere, law enforcement getting all over your life, and of course tax cuts for the rich. Now there’s a good chance that some of this is just Trump blather, (remember that wall Mexico was paying for?), but you can certainly rely on tax cuts for the rich. And he will certainly attempt most of it.
And when he does, his economic policies are going to tank this economy. Just you wait. The more of them he accomplishes, the sooner it tanks. And he can depend on cryptocurrency to do its part. This time America may learn a lesson it won’t soon forget. We’ll see.
