VIRTUAL TOUR
Scene Two:  The Plot Thickens

After a Choral Ode examining the impact on  life (and the Florida Growers’ Association)  if Zeus didn’t exist,    [A World Without Zeus]   Oedipus enters and asks the Chorus if they have any information regarding the murder of Laius. [Speak Up, People]  They don’t.  They ask Oedipus what he intends to do. He replies that he has already sent for the blind seer, Tiresias. [Has Anyone Seen the Seer?]

And just like that, Tiresias enters. [Welcome, Dear Tiresias!]  Though Oedipus and the Chorus welcome him warmly, Tiresias replies gloomily that it would be better to send him away. [Zorba the Rock]  But he was summoned to help. That he could be so unconcerned with the city’s suffering infuriates Oedipus.

They argue and it becomes plain that the prophet does not want to reveal the murderer of Laius, since Oedipus really wouldn’t like it. But Oedipus persists, and Tiresias finally discloses that the killer is, indeed, Oedipus. [
Local Boy Makes Good]  Oedipus in turn accuses Tiresias and Creon of conspiring against him. This charge  enrages Tiresias to reveal the rest of the curse. [So’s Your Old Man]  But Oedipus has already walked inside the palace and doesn’t hear about the mother-marrying/father-killing part.  [One for the Birds]

And being blind, Tiresias doesn’t realize Oedipus has left.  He promises to send his invoice in the morning.
