From Your Government in Exile was a (more or less) weekly column that appeared in the University of Nevada Sagebrush during the academic years of 1972 to 1976. The author, bfk, was actually paid for them. Well, not much but still paid. Upon coming to New York City in August 1976, he quickly discovered that should he write something he no longer received a check for it. This led to a mammoth writer's block which every now and then, he would overcome and yet again discover that there was no money in it. This also happened when he would try things other than writing, you know, like composing music, sculpting... it mattered not: No money there either.
With the advent of Facebook® and an increasing facility with Photoshop, our hero realized there was a whole new world in satiric collage-pastiche work. This doesn't pay anything either. But who cares? It's just messing around. The whole point of making money anyway is to survive while doing something one likes in a place where one wants to live and doing what one wants to do . Well, after all these years, having an adequate pension, I can now do that. So, despite myself, I think that's called success.
